This tray is designed around one piece of Japanese burl wood and key features decorated with Sterling silver frog and ants. The eyes are set with red stones.

The Burl wood comes from a tree growth in which the grain has grown in a deformed manner. Burls are extremely dense and resistant to splitting, which males it valued for bowls, artifacts and sculptures.
